Lex Fridman · Khabib's training camp in the mountains of Dagestan | Khabib Nurmagomedov and Lex Fridman
- 1. Khabib's village Sildi was built in rugged terrain for defense, with the name derived from the word for castle or fortress.
- 2. The harsh mountain conditions, including heavy snow that cuts off villages in winter, forced people to work all summer to survive, making them mentally tough.
- 3. Khabib's father dreamed of building a sports complex in Sildi, and Khabib completed it after his father's death in 2020.
- 4. Training at the Sildi base, which sits 1,500-1,600 meters above sea level, increases oxygen in the blood and testosterone, improving stamina and physical condition.
- 5. Khabib built the sports complex not for profit but because it brings happiness and meaning, creates jobs, honors his father's wish, and helps fighters improve physically and spiritually.
- 6. The drive from Makhachkala to Sildi takes about 3 hours 40 minutes on a winding mountain road, or 40-50 minutes by helicopter.
